OPINION : Most of theiPhone 15rumours so far are focused on one rum feature of speech and it ’s nothing to get excited about .   But what else is there ?

So desperate are buff for iPhone 15 nuggets that the ‘ will it wo n’t it ’ for this year is n’t focused on the show , the plan , or the cameras . It ’s all about thevolume button for the iPhone 15 Pro . Yes , the volume buttons !

Specifically , will they be the traditional physical button ? Or will they be replaced by haptic solid - state buttons powered by a Modern Taptic Engine ?

The most late written report advise the feature – if you could really call it that – will now be hold off until next year ’s iPhone 16 Pro . The plan was said to be to preface the feature article for this year , but reportedly pre - production proficient emergence have determine it back 12 months .

The question is , would this modification have affected many mass ’s determination to kick upstairs to an iPhone 15 Pro ( or the rumoured Ultra ) ? Not in my opinion . Given this is likely to influence the protective cases people can utilise , then it might even have an adverse issue on the purchase decision .

Apple handsets are being retained for longer than ever . Even Apple says people are now maintain their iPhones for an average of three years . There have n’t been that many reasons to upgrade before of that time in late years .

The gadget design is expected to remain mostly the same for the 4th consecutive year . We ’re not pick up too much supposition about radical new feature that would reignite pastime among those who maybe have an iPhone 13 andiPhone 14 .

Lost its lustre?

Why is this ? It ’s pretty trifling that Apple is n’t really pushing the innovation gasbag with its staple , best - sell ware any longer . The annual yearly announcements have misplace a fate of their lustre and are more public relations event than production reveals .

We see about bounteous feeler in sustainability , but very little in term of excitability . Is Apple really chance on themixed reality headsetsucceeding the iPhone and is apportion its resources in this personal manner ?   Is Apple gearing up to get into the foldables arena five years after Samsung and really shake up the range ? Or is this just the natural parliamentary procedure of thing ?

Does Apple believe it has taken the iPhone as far as it can , given the short - to - mid - term theme technology outlook ? Are there no naturalistic avenues usable to the company to wow us with an iPhone 15 this year ?

That would be understandable . All technical school sectors be given to strike that zenith where the strain gene settle into steady improvements in display tech , resolution , clock speeds , camera timbre and the like . When was the last time you got decently excited about a laptop or a tablet for example ?

No more golden eggs?

I suppose the iPhone has an elevated position . If Apple is the cuckoo , the iPhone is the gilt egg . The smartphone holds almost mythical position and is arguably the most authoritative consumer engineering product of all time . These safe , incremental yearly updates have shaken our organized religion in that and it ’s a little dissatisfactory .

Even though these thing rarely stay under wraps anymore , Apple may still have something big in store for this year ’s update . It could even storm everyone with aniPhone Fold , although we ’d belike know about that by now .

However , does it even weigh ?

Apple will still probably sell 200 - million of whatever it announces in September because of the sword loyalty consumers have . Most iPhone user who need a new phone will just ( and always ) bribe the latest iPhone available to them . I ’m hoping my iPhone 12 Pro Max last until the iPhone 16 , but if not I ’ll elevate to an iPhone 15 out of requisite .

One thing I wo n’t countenance ? buy an Android phone . Just ai n’t happening and Apple fuck it .

Still , I ’d love Apple to take a little more risks , to the point that I ’m actually unrestrained about the production I ’m buy , rather than it feeling consanguineal to postulate a new cooker or washing machine .
