judgment : So , my idea on theSky Glass Gen 2are here , and if you wanted the tl;dr translation , it ’s an improvement on the original tv set .
Which is not to say that was a high benchmark to leap over for Glass 2 . When theoriginal Sky Glasslaunched , it was solid enough for its clip , but unlike other telly firebrand that tend to update most of their business - up every year , Sky waited four eld before bring a new mannequin to the market .
That meant that equate to newer theoretical account , Sky Glass Gen 1 ( as it ’s now called ) was showing its age and necessitate to be update .

Launching in 2021 meant that the engineering science inside the TV was from even earlier , and despite all the update that Sky bring in to the television over the years , there ’s a limit to how much better you could make the computer hardware .
So while Sky Glass 2 is bright , offer up a more colourful flick performance , and the blueprint is , well , light , there ’s always way for improvement .
The four star that Sky Glass Gen 2 earned intend it gets a passport from me , especially if you ’re the fair game consultation ( families , essentially ) – but there are still elements where Sky Glass 2 remains stubborn in its approach in some areas .

Here ’s how Sky could make this or the next Glass TV better .
Make it more accessible for gaming
Sure , Sky Glass 2 – like the original – is a television set made for families , and as far as gaming is touch on , it ’s all about interactive games . But for take full advantage of the interactive plot that Sky Glass 2 offers , you need the Sky Live camera , which is an additional monetary value on top of an already very expensive telecasting .
The job I , and I imagine others will have , is Sky ’s disinclination to embrace console table or PC gaming . The original TV did n’t even supportALLM technologythat mechanically commit the TV into its lowest input state when it detects a gambling signaling , until it was sum up as an update .
Sky remedied that by tote up ALLM directly from the off with Glass 2 – except the plot mode is still not a selectable mode .

If you ’re a gamer and there ’s a Sky Glass TV in your family , I would n’t commend it as a TV for gaming . It ’s not that I ’m expecting advanced feature article such as 4K/120Hz orDolby Vision Gaming , both of which are pretty niche feature anyway , but it ’s as if Sky does n’t want you to apply the TV for gaming . It ’s more about watch films and television receiver series .
I ca n’t narrate you what the real stimulus lag is for this TV ( in other painting modes it ’s 65.3ms , which is pretty terrible ) . Apart from ALLM , there are no other feature that raise gaming in any manner . suppose if Sky embraced the play residential area , specially with its 43 - in poser that ’s a perfect size for sleeping accommodation gaming .
Sky seems to indicate that the Glass is a mainstream boob tube , but play is now a part of the mainstream , and it ’s not just about sport plot with kids . There ’s a whole market that Sky seems to be ignoring .
Bring some anti-glare tech to the TV
This is a glitch bear of mine . Reflection and glare rile me , and only the best TV options seem fit out to handle with them . The problem is , not everyone can afford an expensive TV .
Sky Glass 2 does n’t have any specific anti - glare technology , and though I feel that it handled reflections and glare slightly well than the older concealment , there are times when I ’m watching darkHDR contentwhere I can see the sofa I ’m sitting on . It becomes distracting after a while .
There ’s also the design to factor in . Sky Glass 2 sits on a plinth , but not one that you may pivot the TV on . Unless you ’ve got the TV positioned away from light sources , you ’re potential to have to deal with sunlight and reflexion that will affect the image . Sit at a wider slant to try and nullify the glare and coloration get down to fade .
A USB-C powered remote
I ’ll make this one short and angelical .
Given Sky ’s commitment to sustainability , it does n’t make much sense that the remote control still use batteries .
Get rid of them , switch to USB - C charging and we ’ve all make unnecessary ourselves a trip to the supermarket to recycle old battery .

It could be better at upscaling
The 65 - in model is the biggest size of it that Sky offers , and the projection screen that I reviewed . 65 - inch screen bid scale , but they ’re not always the sharpest and most elaborated size of it . In my opinion , a 55 - inch screen is the unadulterated size for sharpness , clarity and contingent .
But , I come up that even with 4 kilobyte content , Sky Glass 2 is n’t the sharpest or most detailed picture you ’ll see ; and when it ’s upscaling less than 4 K content up to 4 K , it can come across as a bit flukey in place .
A stream of Brooklyn Nine - Nine onNetflixwasn’t the clearest or most elaborate – at time it reckon a bit blurry even – but what was most distracting was the red / fleeceable strip that appeared with HD and SD content .
I can see it in people ’s article of clothing , in skintones , and also when the telecasting was dealing with blank tones – there was a turn of green / red color everywhere , colours that I was n’t control with other TVs I was testing at the fourth dimension .
Given that the UHD / Atmos pack is ADHD - on and not included as standard , you ’re paying for a 4 K capable telly and then paying more to watch 4 K content on your4 K TV .
I ’ve spell about this before , but it bugs me that we ’re pay more for 4 kilobyte content when it should be the standard . It does n’t help oneself that almost all TV communication channel still propagate in SD and HD .
And if you decide not to pay that 4 K surcharge , you ’re watching HD and SD content most of the time , and you ’re not mother the best picture . There are less expensive telly than Sky Glass 2 that pop the question well upscaling . It ’s an area where Sky Glass Gen 2 should be better .
Here’s looking to the future
Sky Glass Gen 2 will plausibly deal by the bucketloads , and while it is better , I opine there will still be some that feel let down by some of its limitations .
It ’ll only change if Sky variety . There are plenty of television receiver brands that focus on families , andeveryone else with their tv set . Sky ’s attack feel like it wants to be folk - well-disposed , but there ’s also a risk that it end up a bit vanilla extract .
Then again , vanilla is my favourite ice-skating rink cream flavour .
