ruling : It ’s taken a while but UE ( or Ultimate Ears as they ’re also known as ) havereleased the Fits true wirelessin the UK and Europe , and it ’s a fairly nerveless piece of engineering .

Ultimate Ears are best eff for its colorful wireless speakers , like the award - winningWonderboom 3 , and the Fits ab initio launch in the US in 2020 . I ca n’t suppose what the wait was – perhaps the US mart was a testbed before Ultimate Ears decided to progress with launch elsewhere .

If you ’re not intimate with the Fits , they are a pair of headphones that can mould their ear - tips to the shape of your privileged ear for a conniption tailor to you . They use what Ultimate ear refers to as their Lightform engineering , made up of embedded LED that can heat up and indurate the colloidal gel - filled tips to match the shape of ear within 60 seconds so they gibe your ears ‘ dead ’ .

Put the earbuds in and you ’re asked to download the app if you have n’t done so . Then you ’re taken through a process where the gel heats up , causing a slightly weird star in your ear as you throw them in . There ’s not a whole lot of headphone these days that offer something I ’ve not come across before , but the UE Fits certainly belong in that category .

But what if you put them in your ears at slimly the wrong slant ? Having used them a few times over a yoke of day that was my first worry ; they vocalize a fiddling crisper and brighter than I had expected but I finally actualise that I had n’t quite inserted the earphone where I should have . And there is some solace with a 30 - day money - back guarantee if you do n’t corrupt into Ultimate Ears ’ claims , which is sensitive enough .

And despite lay claim to offer that ‘ stark fit ’ , there is a degree of wiggle room in positioning the earphones but once in they feel secure and do n’t give the mental picture that they ’d fall out .

While this is n’t a review ( more a first impression ) , I do think there could be an actual ear - tip fit test before you get into the ‘ moulding ’ appendage – the app is a little too keen to rush along you into the wizardry of its technical school with only the option to check how the basso before you pass over in . I get why UE would want to mark the basso levels , it ’s the most obvious aspect of sound quality that ’s affected by a pathetic fit , but I retrieve the app could ease you in a little more gently .

Also slightly underwhelming is the ‘ check into you Fit ’ part , which is just just a two - question survey about the stamp and sound timbre that you could answer ‘ Ok ’ in both case and the app will hark back with the response of ‘ Great fit ’ . I do n’t call up ‘ Ok ’ really translates to ‘ Great ’ .

While I wo n’t go into detail about aspects such as comfort , heavy quality and serviceability ahead of the review , I ’ll say that thing appear promising for the UE Fits . The terms is perhaps another orbit of concern , though . £ 199.99 and € 229.99 is towards the premium end of the market where noise cancelling options are abundantly available , but the UE Fits certainly puts down a marker to be one more unique and interesting selection at that price . Check back for our review to see if they ’re worth the asking price .
