OPINION : It ’s been abusy week at CES , with more announcements than I was wait leading up to the tech showcase . A few week ago , I was think perhaps CES might be on the wane , but while CES 2024 is n’t quite back to peak levels of attendees , it is getting back to throw the same wow factor .
The one trend that most have cull up on is the use of artificial intelligence information . Where this column is most concerned is with the use of AI in TVs to drive performance . It ’s become more predominant , and I ’m not sure that ’s always a good matter .
There are ways in which I think AI is necessary . moot Samsung ’s approach shot with its upcoming8 K TVs . The company has doubled down on using artificial intelligence with its NQ8 AI Gen 3 C.P.U. , apply it to apparent movement processing and upscaling of cognitive content .

Or peradventure the intense contrast of colour in a Michael Bay film could be evenmoreintense ? And would this enhancement suggest that the normal picture modes are less interesting or flavourful by equivalence ?
At least you’re able to grow it off , and there isFilmmaker modefor picture accuracy , but it ’s an addition that feel like integrate AI for the sake of it . Roku ’s US TVswill feature a similar setting . That ’s ultimately not drive the picture quality you end up seeing on projection screen but interchange television set modes so you do n’t have to .
For me , these are the type of solutions I ’d care to see with artificial intelligence – reducing the rough-and-tumble and automate processes that take away from love your new TV . If not integrated efficiently , AI could terminate up taking centre stage when really it ’s meant to be a supporting actor .
