Microsoft has performed a u - turn over its controversialRecallfeature forCopilot+ Windows 11 PCsannounced last month .
The Recall feature , which is designed to vamp on - gadget search using AI rather than traditional file epithet , takes even screenshots of what ’s on your show and makes that information searchable thanks to what Microsoft calls a “ photographic memory ” .

Finally , Microsoft says it is encourage the certificate of the feature , adding : “ We are add extra layers of data protection including “ just in time ” decryption protected by Windows Hello Enhanced Sign - in Security ( ESS ) so Recall snapshots will only be decrypted and approachable when the user authenticates . In addition , we write in code the search index database . ”
