The OnePlus Watch 3 is here , boasting not only another telling start in assault and battery life but a larger AMOLED screen door with slim bezel , a functional splay crown and massively boosted detector smartness . It ’s also implausibly indestructible , with prescribed MIL - STD-810H credential .

That certification is not earned lightly . It involve a pretty intense enduringness testing summons outlined by Dr Zijing Zeng , Head of Research & Development and Head of the OnePlus Health Lab , whom I had the pleasure of speaking to exclusively out front of today ’s big reveal .

Zeng excuse that the OnePlus Watch 3 ’s strength test starts with the famous drop test , though he remarked that it was “ very easy for us ” – compare to the more intense wheeling run , anyway .

It ’s one of the more ambitious tests for a pre - release wearable to go through . According to Zeng , the OnePlus Watch 3 is joined by “ sharps like keys , necklaces , jewellery ” along with materials like wood and plastic into what equate to a washing machine , which is then left to cycle .

Once the cycle is all over , Zeng explicate that OnePlus guarantee “ there is no major damage to [ the ] watch , ” including the rearward sensor . If there is , it simply wo n’t be released . “ Because you put this in your purse , your bag with , you know , those courser and other things . ”

“ That ’s a very tough , harsh test . ” Zeng continued . “ I conceive that kind of harsh mental testing only , you make love , top - tier companies can do ” , mentioning both Samsung and Apple by name . How does he fuck that for sure ? “ I was from Apple ” .

That uttermost durability examination proceed with what Zeng describes as a gamy - temperature , high - humidity psychometric test – HTHH for short .

“ We have , you know , this huge [ thermal ] sleeping room [ … ] we tested all the room to temperature as high as 80 degrees , and then we do the humidity test all the means to 95 % ” . That might seem like extreme conditions , but Zeng claims it allows OnePlus to ensure “ masses in very humid environments like the hobo camp ” will be fine .

Other tests include salt ingress examination to help protect the wearable on beach trips , pressure testing , corrosion testing , solar radiation examination , and more , all of which are necessary to achieve its MIL - STD-810H military rating .

OnePlus has very strict manufacturing standards

That ’s already a strict set of run for the OnePlus Watch 3 to run for through , but OnePlus is committed to the high standard potential . Zeng explain that “ we perfectly do not stand any failure , ” claim that even if a single sentinel from a large batch of test samples go , it would go back to the drawing board .

“ Otherwise we ’re miss money , correct ? [ … ] Consumers are go to see it out ” .

This telling posture should reassure consumers that OnePlus is taking its fresh wearable journeying very gravely , with the remnant event being a wearable that should survive whatever you could have at it .
